Cachoeira and Recôncavo Tour

The Reconcavo region hides stories of a glorious economic past and resistance against Portugal influences. The region used to be one of the main exporters of sugar, tobacco and manioc of the colony and during the independence war, Cachoeira resisted against the Portuguese troops, reason why it is also called Cachoeira “heroic”. The tour starts early in the morning and after 1,5 hours by car we reach Santo Amaro, homeland of Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethania, pioneers of the tropicalist cultural movement in the 70ies. We walk through the local market where the visitors can enjoy some contact with locals and on fruits and legume stands.
After leaving Santo Amaro, we drive for more 40 minutes untill we reach Cachoeira, on the board of the Paraguaçu river. We realize a walking tour passing through the main attractions on the small town. Stop for lunch at a Fazenda Santa Cruz with view to the valley and finishing the tour with a guided visitation to the cigarette fabric, Dannemann.

Tour duration: until 8 hours
Tour Includes: local guide, lunch and transportation costs
